Approximately 15000 cheques worth almost 22 crores collected as a donatiom for Ram Mandir’s construction have bounced. These cheques were collected by the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP). The matte came into light during an audit conducted by the “Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Teerth Kshetra” a trust that was setup by the government itself.
The reason stated by the officials for this were mostly due to the insufficient funds, overwriting, signatures mismatched etc.
Dr. Anil Mishra – a member of Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Teerth Kshetra trust said they are working with banks and people will be given an opportunity to rectify the errors.
It is being reported that nearly 2000 cheques were from Ayodhya and remaining came in from different parts of India.
According to VHP’s claim from Jan 15, 2021 to Feb 16, 2021 around 2500 crores were collected from the donation drive. And also claimed Ram Mandir’s construction will be completed by 2024.
