Villagers in UP jump into river to avoid vaccination, thinking it’s poison.

In a bizzare incident is Uttar Pradesh’s Sisaurha village of Barabanki, people jumped into Saryu river after seeing a team of health officials coming to inoculate them. The incident took place on Saturday.

The sub-divisional magistrate of Ram Nagar tehsil said Raj Kumar said the villagers jumped due to a rumour that vaccines are poison doses that will be given to kill them. Hence, to save their lives they jumped into the Saryu river. After this Raj Kumar said he made the villagers undestand the importance of vaccine doses and tried to dispel their myths and finally the vaccine were administered to all people above 18 in the village.
