Thailand’s PM fined ₹14000 for not wearing mask at a govt meeting.

Thailand’s Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha was fined 6000 bhat which roughly equates to ₹14000 by the officials for not wearing mask in a emergency government meeting held on Monday in Bangkok. The Bangkok’s Governor Aswin wrote on facebook “the PM has agreed to pay the fine”.

The photographs of the event went viral and Thailand’s PM had to face a major backlash on social media. While PM Prayuth had not commented on the matter yet, but the photographs from all the official social media handles were deleted later on.

According to Thai rules applicable in 48provinces including Bangkok, mask is a mandation everywhere outside personal residences. Thailand is in the midst of a covid-19 wave with 2,048 positive cases reported on Monday. The country has recorded 57,508 cases and 148 deaths as of yet.
