Eicher Motors on Wednesday announced a recall order of around 2.3 lakh bikes across the world over a defect in its ignition coil that can cause misfiring or even electric short circuit in some cases.
Royal Enfield in one of most popular and most selling 2 wheeler motorcycle brand in India. The recall has been for their 3 popular models including Meteor, Classic and Bullet in countries such as India, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Phillipines, Australia and New Zealand, said Royal Enfield in an statement.
The defect was detected during routine internal testing and the issue was found in certain specific batches, due to a material sourced from external supplier between December 2020 and April 2021, the company said. The issue is rare and will not impact all motorcycles manufactured during the period said Royal Enfield.
