Karnataka records 39000+ Covid cases & claims the top spot, beating Maharashtra.

Karnataka on Monday, record it’s biggest covid surge as of yet with 39,235 cases in the state. Karnataka became the #1 in the list of highest cases recorded by a state or a UT in India on Monday. Thus, beating Maharashtra which recorded 37000+ cases; its lowest single day spike for Covid cases in the last 41 days. Maharashtra for the first time since the second wave starting in February has been pushed to the second spot. Karnataka’s total caseload went up to 19,73,683, while it recorded an alarming 596 more deaths on Monday.

Meanwhile, India record it’s lowest single day surge in last two weeks with 3.3lakhs recorded on Monday. Maharashtra remains the worst hit state with more than 500 deaths recorded on most days since April 9.

In Karnataka, Bengaluru urban district solely record 16000+ cases which is still 4000 lower than Sunday’s tally but with 374 deaths in a single day, the situation remains alarming. The city has so far reported 9,67,640 infections and 8,431 deaths. There were 9,67,640 active cases.

In order to curb the situation under control the Karnataka Government has imposed a strict 14 days lockdown in the state, announced B.S Yediyurappa (CM of Karnataka).
