Atleast 7 people got killed in Gujarat alone, due to the cylcone Tauktae that has been wreaking a havoc in southern coast and western coast of India.
According to Gujarat’s Chief Minister Vijay Rupani around 40,000 trees got uprooted, 1000 electric poles uprooted and around 16000 houses destroyed which left thousands homeless in the state.
Accoridng to IMD (Indian meterogical department) a very strong severe storm got through Gujarat’s Diu and Una, which gradualy weakend.
Chief minister Vijay Rupani said close to 2 lakh people in 17 districts labelled vulnerable to the cyclone were shifted to safer locations. At least 17 Covid-19 patients on ventilator support at Porbandar Civil Hospital’s ICU were shifted to facilities in Junagadh and Jamnagar.
Ahmedabad, Surat, Rajkot, Vadodara, Kandla and other airports were shut as a precautionary measure as the cyclone entered Gujarat.
In Gujarat currently 50 NDRF and 10 SDRF teams are stationed. With around 1 lakh cops deployed, Army and Navy on stand-by in case there’s an emergency said state DGP Ashish Bhatia.
