In Uttar Pradesh’s Aligarh district as 22 people died due to consumption of toxic liquor, as of Friday. According to officials death toll may rise as more bodies are coming in and awaiting autopsy while 28 peipley are already in a critical condition.
Three officers of the Excise Department, including District Excise Officer Dhiraj Sharma, suspended in connection with the death of 11 people after allegedly consuming liquor sold by licensed vendors in Aligarh, reported ANI.
“8 people have died, 2-3 people under medical treatment after consuming liquor bought from a government-run liquor shop in Karsua; liquor samples sent for testing. Further investigation is underway. Few people have been detained for questioning” said Deepak Kumar, DIG, Aligarh.
